Form 990-N filing Due Date

IRS 990-N form is due by the 15th day of 5th month of the organization’s end of the tax year, which most of the time is the same as the accounting period. If your tax year ended on December 31, the e-Postcard due date is May 15 of the following year. Should it so happen that the date falls on a legal holiday or a Sunday, the form is due the following business day. You can’t file the e-Postcard until after your tax year ends.

Penalties and Late Filing Fee

There are no penalties for not filing 990-N on time, but the IRS will send you a reminder about the e-Postcard are due soon. If the particular organization fails to file the form 990, 990-N and 990-EZ for 3 for three consecutive years, the IRS reserves the right to deny their rights to be tax-exempt.
