Adjustments for Week-End Offs or Legal Holidays
In general, if the mentioned due date comes on Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the due date is considered to postpone until the next day, which is not a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday. However, in the case of excise taxes, there are two exceptions to this rule.
- In case of deposits of regular method taxes, when the due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, then the due date is the immediately previous day, which is not a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday.
- Under the special September deposit rules, when the due date comes on a Saturday, the deposit is due on the prior Friday. When the due date of the tax comes on a Sunday, the deposit is due on the following Monday.
